The Captain
Captain Dave has been fishing the south shore of Long Island for over 50 years. The Capt. Is a licensed USCG Master since 1987. Before that, he fished on every party boat that he could get a ride to. He rode his bicycle to the south shore beaches and jetties targeting Fluke, Flounder, Black Fish, Blow Fish, Blue fish and Striped Bass. Capt. Dave spent Summers fishing the beaches of Atlantic City, NJ, and off bridges along the causeways of MIAMI. He’s fished Panama for Cabrera Snapper, Roosterfish, Pacific Sailfish and Marlin and Hawaii for Tuna and Marlin.
In the 80’s the Capt. was able to get on commercial boats. He long lined Cod in the winter and was a pinhooker for fluke, Flounder and Blackfish commercially. Then it happened.
Capt. Dave was invited on a Tuna trip to the Hudson Canyon. Well, after he caught his 1st tuna, he was hooked. Captdavep never lost the feeling of awe, not only for catching Tuna but loved being far offshore in the canyons, He had found his Place.
Nowadays, The Capt.’s fun comes from taking people on fishing trips. Whether an inshore trip for a day or an offshore overnight trip, He’s always trying to pass on the excitement, awe he feels just being out there. Check out what over 50 years of experience can show you
The Boat
The Canyon Lady is a 40’ express sport fisherman custom built for fishing our offshore waters. Its deep V hull cuts through the waves with a kind gentle ride. Its 1000 horsepower twin turbo diesels give us the speed needed to get you on the fishing grounds quickly and comfortably.
Below deck is a galley with sink, hot and cold running water, microwave, Nespresso Coffee Machine and fridge. Forward is a berth should you want to sleep awhile. Across from the Galley is a dinette with u shaped seating.
Canyon Lady is equipped with updated SIMRAD Navigation & fish finding technology to help find the fish we are searching for. We don’t waste time in unproductive areas. The Boat talks to our electronics and take us to the fishing grounds by the fastest and safest route. Additionally, our system has night vision “see” what’s around us with a night camera so we can “see” even in the dark.
Onboard For your Security and safety are type 1 life vests for Adults and Children. An 8-man SOLAS Offshore Life Raft with provisions and communication device. 8 cold water immersion suites, 2VHF radios with emergency transmission capabilities, Dual Radars and 2 EPIRBS including all coast guard mandated safety equipment. In addition, we carry a sat phone and Satellite texting device.
